Today, about five weeks after their orders, a lot of GO-owners received their Maps of Western Europe upgrade. But their happiness soon changed to utter dissapointment: when they tried to activate their new maps via www.ttcode.com they found out that this was impossible. The code that was supplied with their upgrade got accepted as a correct code, but activating the maps didn't work regardless.
After the first disconcerting posts on our forums, we quickly contacted TomTom and asked them for an explanation. They investigated the problem immediately and found out that because of a human error the wrong product codes have been shipped with the first batch of the upgrades.
Of course, this doesn't mean that every new owner of the upgrades of sadly out of luck. But you can check if you're one of the unlucky ones by clicking through to http://www.ttcode.com and entering your supplied product code there. You have got a faulty product code if the following is displayed:
"xxx” is a correct product code for TomTom Map 2005 Western Europe Add-on.
The word "Add-on" is important here!! You've only got a faulty code if you read the EXACT SAME line!!
Solution
TomTom has no other alternative than supplying a new product code to all the people who have a non-working product code. To receive a new code, go to the TomTom support site, log in and send an email there with the following data:
