TomTom PLUS: free WC Football items
Monday April 10, 2006 - With only nine weeks left to go before the beginning of the FIFA World Cup Football 2006 in Germany, TT now announces some WC Football gifts.
To get in the mood for the FIFA World Cup Football, which will take place this June and July in Germany, TomTom has developed some PLUS services especially for this event. Specific voices, colour schemes and POI categories have been created.
This special PLUS package will enhance the World Cup atmosphere for the travelling football-fan this summer. And, as opposed to many World Cup actions this time of year, this TomTom PLUS action is entirely free!
Colours
For starters, the real fan may download a colour scheme which will make the colours of the maps on his GO completely on par with the colours of his favourite country. Eg. the maps for the Dutch fans will be coloured orange. But the supporters of the UK, French, German, Italian and Spanish teams can also add a specific colour to the maps of their GO. (see image underneath this article).
Points of Interest
For the true fan, who will no doubt travel to Germany this summer to see his favourite team playing, there are several special POI categories available. Of course there's a category with all stadia where the World Championship Football will be played. For recreation and lodging in between matches, categories for sports-café's, night clubs, restaurants and hotels have been made available. This also includes locations where the matches can be followed on a big-screen television. And for the biggest fans, there's also the POI's of the hotels of the players, so you'll be able to spot all your favourite football-heroes.
Voices
Finally the WC PLUS package also includes several voices of persons who are related to football. For the UK, the voice of 'Svennis' will be available. For other participating countries there's 'Le Gardien' (France), 'De Coach' (Holland), 'Der Kaiser' (Germany), 'El Entrenador' (Spain) and 'Il signore del calico TV' (Italy). We leave it up to you to guess who's voices have been used.
The WC PLUS package will become available on the TomTom website by the end of April.
