The expectations were high, but TomTom delivered, seemingly with ease. Profits rose to 58,7 million euro (£ 39,91), while analists had expected about 29,3 million euro (£ 19,92).
Go GO!
The passed quarter the total turnover was 250 million euro. (170 million UKP) In 2004, the turnover for the the third quarter was "only" 52,8 million euro (36 million UKP). The TomTom GO can be accounted for the lions' share of this phenomenal rise: in the second quarter, about 260.000 GO's were sold, this last quarter 538.000. And because a large percentage of those GO's were 500's and 700's, the average selling price of all the unit rose to 402 euro (£ 274).
All of this showed from the quarterly figures that the manufacturer made public today. TomTom expects the total turnover in 2005 to be about 3,5 times the already great turnover of 2004. To improve this year's results even more, a lot is expected from the newly released TomTom ONE.
