Marvelous, that 4.40-update from TomTom. It enables a lot more POI functionality. Most of you already know what you can do with POI's but how does it all work exactly? This special has been created for that exact purpose: to inform you about all there is to know about POI's (Points Of Interest). How does the adding of speed camera's with accompanying icons work? And what about .ov2 files? You'll read all about it right here!

The TomTom GO has thousands of Points Of Interest (POI's) with which a user can not only enter addresses, but also immediately the name of the destination point. POI's are divided into categories which greatly facilitates searching. Eg. petrol stations, airports, amusement parks, car dealers, cash dispensers, embassies, restaurants...
In this special we'll try and explain to you how to make optimal use of these POI's on the TomTom GO. From firmware version 4.40 and up it's also possible to add you own POI's (like speed camera's, certain restaurant chains, ...the possibilities are endless!). You can add these POI's yourself, but you can also enter complete lists of pre-defined POI categories which you can find on the internet. We'll explain where you can find these lists and how you should enter them into your TTG in the second part of this special.
