February 2005
The Rembrandtsquare; one of the most important nightlife centers of Amsterdam, and since a few weeks also the place where the new TomTom headquarters are located.
TomTom GO owners can rest assured: things are going well with their favourite navigational solution. So well even that the location at the Spuistraat had rapidly become too crowded to remain comfortable for the fast-growing TomTom staff. So the hunt for a new and especially roomier location began, and, as we've reported earlier, was found at the Rembrandtsquare in Amsterdam.
The fastest growing TomTom department is without a doubt the Customer Support. You know, the place where all the men and women reside that respond to all your telephone calls and e-mails. And there are a LOT of those: currently about 30.000 e-mails and 10.000 telephone calls a month! To be able to tackle all those questions with success, there are currently 44 support employees and that number just keeps on growing. To give you an idea: not even a year ago there were 'only' 15 support employees!
But besides the support department, all other departments experienced a growth as well so TomTom ran out of space very quickly: they needed to go out on a hunt for a bigger location. That hunt didn't take long and now all the 190 TomTom employees have found a new home in the beautiful new office building located at the Rembrandtsquare. It's very big, so TomTom doesn't have to worry about the side effects of expansion for quite a while to come...
MyTomTomGO visited their new offices Wednesday February 16th, and we made the following photoshoot there.
